Blessing Wednesday - What Works.

***Before I even start I need to tell ya'll with Internet Explorer - for some reason that search engine doesn't like me! My blog header is not working on Internet Explorer. It'll come up and then switch to black. I'm trying to figure it out. Tips anyone? I hope to have it fixed soon. Pardon my dust - or black screen - until then:)***

Okay, now that housekeeping is done, lemme have my coffee and chat. I gotta admit, it's been a week - and it's only Wednesday. Lots of stuff not working the way it should, but I'm going to focus on what is working, because when it comes down to it, we've still got lots to be thankful for!

Here goes. What is working:

1 - My smile. You know the saying - "Turn that frown upside down." It's a choice, isn't it? So let's all borrow a line from Buddy the Elf: "I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite."

2 - My legs. I was able to get out in the gorgeous sunshine and take a walk with my daughter yesterday. That's amazing for February!

3 - Speaking of the sun...The Sun. Amazing. It comes up like clockwork every single day! Imagine how dark it would be without it. And God didn't have to put it in the sky. He'd already made light without it. Probably because He IS light. But how great of Him to give us something so our minds wouldn't always wonder what day it way, what time it was, what year it was...and we don't have to worry about changing the bulb or plugging it in...

4 - Oh, which makes me think of my alarm clock. My awesome alarm clock. I've had it for twenty years and it still works. I don't have anything electrical that's worked that long. Come to think of it, I don't have anything at all that's been with me that long. Well, except for Paddington the Bear, but I digress...

5 - But the best thing that has always and will always work without question? The thing I'm most thankful for today? God's Word. It's active (Hebrews 4:12), never returns void (Isaiah 55:11), and never fails (Zephaniah 3:5).

Huh. When you start to count those blessings you find there's a lot to be thankful for, don't you?

So how about you? Things going well or needing a tune-up? Take a look around, I'd love to hear what's working well for you this week.

Blessings to you my friends!

  1. You're right, there is so much to be thankful for. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be at home with my son for a little longer, for for a working computer, for God's provision to attend the ACFW conference this year, YAY! :-)

  2. So, my alarm clock is REALLY old and every once in awhile, for no reason, it skips an hour ahead. Thankfully it's only ever done it during in the late afternoon or evening...if it did it during the night, I might be a little perturbed. But in the evening it's nice because it feels like I've got an extra hour.

So many blessings...today I'm ultra thankful for a comfy sweatshirt and jeans kind of day at at the office! :)

  3. If you give Susan a blessing, then she will have to smile. If she smiles, then she will have to be a light. If she has to be a light, then she will look to the sun. If she looks to the sun, she will remember the time. If she remembers the time, she will look for her alarm clock. Seeing her alarm will make her think of a blessing. And if you give Susan a blessing...

    :-)

And you made me smile today, there is one of the things to be thankful for. My email "friend" wrote me this morning and shared my book trailer on his page. My kids are behaving themselves. My heart feel "fluffy" this today. Hey, I just plain woke up today...do I have to count my blessings? I mean, how do you count the grains of sand on a beach?

    :-)

  4. Gwen - OH YEAH! My plan is to go, and I'm waiting on His provision:) So excited for you. I agree too w/ being home with my kids. That's a huge blessing that some days I overlook:)

Melissa - Ha! I'd love that extra hour in the evening. My nights seem to go too fast and then I'm up way later than I planned. I'd love a clock that could do that! Oh, and I echo the comfy clothes. I'm a comfy sweater gal...the big snuggly kind you wrap around yourself - you know, the ones that essentially look like a blanket. Yep. I'm all about that!

  7. Ah, yes, blessings abound even when everything doesn't seem to be going right.

The sun is shining, everyone is safe and healthy, we're having steak for dinner, and . . . I picked up two more subbing jobs today. I'm smiling, even after the rough week I had last week. :D

Praising Him on the mountain top and in the valley! It's always the best that way.

    Have a blessed week, Susan!

  8. Dora - I'm with you on all three! Cars and computers seem to really dislike me, so I am extra thankful whenever they choose to work:) And coffee...well, that's always something to be thankful for!

Michelle - the sun was shining here today too! Steak dinner? YUM! I think I may have to go to the grocery store now:)
