Bookshelf Friday

Well we're getting ready for a holiday weekend - woohoo! It's almost summer!!

I hope many of you will have time with family and friends, and time to remember those who gave their lives so that we can have our freedom. I am incredibly humbled by the men and women who serve to protect us. THANK YOU!!!

Since you'll have an extra day this weekend, in between grilling and parades, maybe some of you will get a chance to read. I've got a pile next to my bed and another on my Kindle that I've yet to touch. So, I thought I'd give you some of my favorite older book titles that remain on my shelf today. I've re-read several of these...but these were my favorites in the series. If you haven't read them, go grab yourself one, find a chair, sit, and enjoy!

Dee Henderson's - The O'Malley Series: book #3 The Truth Seeker - not only did I love Lisa's job (a forensic pathologist, before you'd ever seen them in books--or at least Christian fiction) but I loved how Lisa and Quinn interact. Dee's entire series remains one of my favorites, but this was my favorite of them all.

Denise Hunter's  - The New Heights Series: book #1 Mending Places - I loved the connection between Micah and Hannah, their relationship, and the twists this book brings. And the depth of forgiveness and faith. This book made me fall in love with Denise Hunter as an author and again, the entire series is still on my shelf.

Susan May Warren's - Team Hope Series: book #2 Escape to Morning - This was one of Susan's earlier books, and I was already in love with her as an author when I read it. I tend to lean toward Romantic Suspense when I do read, (that's why Dee Henderson is up there!) and this one I fell in love with Dani and Will, and honestly, the entire Team Hope series. Their friendship and dedication to each other, they go anywhere to help the other out. I love seeing that.

So there you have it. A blast from the past. I'd love to hear what some of your favorite books have been--I can always add more to my pile :)

Have a blessed weekend everyone! I'm taking Monday off, so I'll see you on Wednesday. Don't forget the sunscreen this weekend :)

  2. The O'Malley Series and the Team Hope books are some of my absolute favorite books! And The Truth Seeker and Escape to Morning are my favorites in their series. I have reread both of these series so many times I lost count! I would have to say that these are both of the authors best series. I haven't read Mending places but I've loved some of Denise Hunter's other books and loved them.

    2. I know!!!!!! Conner was an amazing character and he totally needs his own story! Have you read the novella Waiting for Dawn which is kinda a prequel to Flee the Night? It was kinda cool to read!

    3. I saw it out there, but didn't read it. I so loved Lacey and Micah, I didn't know if I wanted to see her before then--did it work, or were you still rooting for Micah? I'm totally on the hold-out for Conner though:)

  3. Thanks for the reccommendations, Susan! They look good! My favorite books are the first two in "The Mark of the Lion" series by Francine Rivers (historical romance set in Ancient Rome). Not a lot of suspense, but still a fantastic story. I haven't read any of Dee Henderson's books yet, but I do have one waiting on my Kindle. Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend!

    1. Thanks Gwen, it was a wonderful weekend, hope yours was too:) Oh I love Francine Rivers too--her Mark of the Lion series is fantastic, and I don't typically read Biblical Fiction...but her writing always pulls me in. And she writes across all genres which has always amazed me. My favorite was Redeeming Love.

  4. Always good to have book recommendations from a trusted source! Thanks for the post, Susan! Also wanted to respond to your comment over at Life Lessons: So cool that your Mom is an artist too - does she do watercolors as well? We've got several of my Mom's hung in our home just like you! Hugs and God bless!

    1. Yes, she does! I have her pictures around my house and one waiting to be framed. I wish I could draw, let alone paint:) She's always been very talented in that way and two of my siblings have taken on that talent.
