Bookshelf Friday - My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade

I picked this book up at the beginning of summer, and I only now took the time to read it--I wish I would have done so sooner! I absolutely loved this sweet romance. While most of the struggles for the main characters were internal, the story moved along at a great pace; I think in part because Becky Wade is awesome with dialogue. There was only one short portion in the middle where I felt I wanted to push these two a bit faster, but never enough to make me put the book down.

Okay, here's a short blurb:

Kate Donovan is burned out on work, worn down by her dating relationships, and in need of an adventure. When Kate's grandmother asks Kate to accompany her to Redbud, Pennsylvania, to restore the grand old house she grew up in, Kate jumps at the chance.

Yet, she discovers a different kind of project upon meeting the man hired to renovate the house.  Matt Jarreau is attractive and clearly wounded -- hiding from people, from God, and from his past.  Kate can't help but set her stubborn heart on bringing him out of the dark and back into the light... whether he likes it or not.

There was so much to like about this book. Becky Wade's cast of characters was eclectic--and mainly over seventy-something. The pant suits, hair dye, and games of Poker had me cracking up. Then there's Kate and Matt. Like I said, Becky knows her dialogue and it flowed effortlessly. They bantered, argued, shared their hearts, even talked about nothing, really, really well. The chemistry between them just worked, and it grew over time.

So, if you're looking for another summer read (shhh...don't tell me it's almost over!), pick My Stubborn Heart up, and as a bonus for anyone on Kindle, it's currently at $2.99:)

Have a great weekend, friends!
