When I was little it was the Christmas music boxes Santa left for us every Christmas morning. This started because when I was around six or so I was quite convinced Santa wasn't real and that I was also smart enough to "prove it". So I told my parents I was going to ask Santa to leave a picture of himself leaving our gifts. I figured he had to own a Polaroid, right? Instead, Santa left this music box...and our family received one every year after that Christmas. When I got married, Santa even found me at my new house and left me one on Christmas Eve. Periodically, a music box still arrives come Christmas morning.
So what's your favorite Christmas tradition--past or current?
**I'll be back to my regular Monday devotions come January. For December I thought it would be fun to see how you all spend the Holidays!**

When the kids were younger, making a birthday cake for Jesus - we should actually start that up again. The past few years - listening to my kiddoes play Christmas carols on the piano. Love that!
ReplyDeleteWe do a cake too! Just started back up a few years ago, my mom did it for the grandkids;) I didn't know your kids play piano, Cindy. I can plunk a tune out on ours, but I'm not sure anyone would know what it was;)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, my grandma used to make each grandkid a new set of pajamas at Christmas. Fun memories. :)
ReplyDeleteShe'd MAKE them? That's awesome...I wish I could sew. I keep trying, but it's about as good as my wrapping;)
DeleteOh, that's a nice tradition. We're so busy visiting our families on Christmas Day that me, the hubby, and the kids usually spend Christmas Eve together in our PJ's and open presents and listen to Christmas music.
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas music, I've been listening to it since November 1 and it gets sweeter each day nearer to Christmas. I love snuggling in on Christmas Eve:)
DeleteWhat a fun tradition, Susan! When my kids were younger, I'd buy them matching pj's. They were so cute! Now that they're 16, 15, and 9, I think it would be fun to bring back the tradition! I wonder if they'd go for it, lol. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, my mom would put walnuts, oranges, and apples in our stockings. This is what her mom did when she was growing up, too. Unfortunately, I didn't continue that tradition with my kids. I regret it a little bit.
Our current Christmas traditions involve making a Gingerbread house, hubby and I making homemade cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast (Pioneer Woman's recipe!), and of course listening to Christmas music. We also watch the Nativity Story and various other Christmas movies (Home Alone, One Magic Christmas, etc). I love the special time with my 9 year old son, when we read the story of Jesus' birth, and talk about all that it means. Ah, so many Christmas blessings!
Hope you have a great week, Susan!
What great traditions - we still do apples and oranges in the stocking toes...never thought about Walnuts but my son would love that! And my youngest is bugging me to do a Gingerbread house, so maybe I'll try that this year.
DeleteHow hard are PW's rolls??
