Learn the Word Wednesday

First up, I've totally got to own my mistake. So last week I put up our new verse for these two weeks and asked how you were doing with the verse from Joshua 1:9...only I listed it as James 1:9! Yeah. Me and names, not so good, especially when they start with the same letter! And references have always been tough for me. Just means I'm going to try harder:) And thank-you to my son who pointed out my slip--with glee, might I add:)

So...on we go!

Our current verse is:

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God who I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalm 56:3-4

As I studied this verse this week, a phrase from Matthew Henry's Commentary stood out to me, and I wanted to share it:

"As we must not trust to an arm of flesh when it is engagedfor us, so we must not be afraid of an arm of flesh when it is stretched outagainst us."

I've chewed on that all week. I think there's a lot of truth there, at least for me. I tend to remember not to place my trust in man because I know my help comes from the Lord. Yet, at times I can battle fear over what man can do--I mean, we live in such a fallen world. And while I know that God is for me, that arm of flesh is in my face and can, at times, seem so much more real than God's presence. But that arm of flesh is the same in either circumstance. If I don't trust it to supply my needs because that's God's job, then I shouldn't fear that it will harm me...because I've got a rather huge Protector. You know, the Man who created the Universe. So, I think He's got this.

Hoping this verse has spoken to you this past week and that over the next week it will be imprinted on your hearts...reference and all:) Let me know how it's going! And next week I'll be collecting names of who's been learning along with me.

  5. I've been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers
made good content as you did, the internet will be a
lot more useful than ever before.
